The Summer School
Join top European graduates and innovators for a transformational experience that will leave you with a new mind-set and the skills needed to innovate and make a real difference for patients and health care systems.
The "Innovation and Business Creation in Health” Summer School will provide a creative learning environment for 36 students taking part in a transformational action learning experience, which will help them develop the practical and transferable skills necessary for successful innovation. The programme will take place in two locations: Trinity College Dublin and IESE Business School Barcelona.
Participants will learn about active and healthy ageing, industry challenges and opportunities, the art of idea creation and opportunity recognition, the design thinking process, working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, the importance of early engagement with users and of an attractive value proposition, the basis of entrepreneurship, business language, and business plan development, including project management and entrepreneurial financing. Participants will work on pre-identified group projects, drafting business plan that will be presented to and reviewed by a panel of experts. Guest speakers (successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists) will share and discuss their experiences throughout, while coaches will work with participants to help them pitch.
Scientists, researchers, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, innovators with an innovation and entrepreneurial mind-set can apply.
Candidates will be selected based upon their CV and a motivation letter presenting their reason for applying, a potential innovative idea(s) on the topic of Health and Ageing (not compulsory but evidence of innovative thoughts would be a bonus) and potential future impact. Selection will be made on these criteria and a good geographical spread.
All applications must be sent before 5 June 2016.
